Fashion Illustrations by David Downton

I was always fascinated about René Gruau, Degas, Klimt and Egon Schiele, but I think there is one fashion illustrator that succeded to go a step further. David Downton was born in Kent in 1959.  He studied at Canterbury and Wolverhampton. he started his illustration career in 1984 and since then, he worked illustrations for advertising, packagings, cook books and fashion. In 1998 he started his portfolio of portraits of some of the world’s most beautiful women, including Erin O’Connor, Paloma Picasso, Catherine Deneuve, Linda Evangelista, Carmen Dell‘Orefice, Iman and Dita Von Teese. In 2007 he launched Pourquoi Pas? the only international periodical dedicated to fashion illustration.
