Bomarzo, parco dei mostri

By the middle of the 16th century, Vicino Orsini created, in his estate at Bomarzo, the region of Lazio, a labyrinth with fantastic animals : monsters, obelisks, nymphaums, and tortoises, dragons and ogres, animals with three heads, elephants fighting and other giant statues. The beautiful garden was designed by the great architect Pirro Ligorio, who finished the works at Saint Peter’s in Vatican after the death of Michelangelo. After Vicino’s death everyone forgot about the fantastic parc but recently, people re-descovered it and now the place can be visited because it is opened for tourists.
