I discovered Kirsty searching for fashion trends for the next year. I am not sure you know about fashion forecasts but one of the trends next year will be beautiful flowers and floral patterns.
Step by step, I discovered her photography and the amazing baroque images as you can see in the pictures above. Kirsty studied photography, fine art and history of art at the age pf 16.
At 19 y.o she received a national diploma with distinction at the London College of Fashion – where she specialized in “Costume for Performance“.
Born in Kent, known to many as the “Garden of England“, Kirsty Mitchell had a lovely childhood in a nice dreamy atmosphere that her mother created around her.
Her mother, an English teacher, filled her daughter’s life with fairy tales and stories that later on were reflected in these photographic studies.
As the artist confesses, her mother instilled in her ” the most precious gift a mother could, her imagination and a belief in beauty, it became my root, and the place I constantly try to return to in my work, and my dreams”.
The fantastic world of Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan works have also affected a lot the artist, and she completed 2 internship at their studios.
Kirsty was eager to produce and to help all the the dreamy atmosphere from her mother’s stories – to come to life.
Photography became an overwhelming passion that helped the artist express after the loss of her mother.
Dreams and stories, fairytales and places that existed only in her imagination had now a life or their own. A place where dreams could be seen and felt by others, too.
Photography, costumes, decor and accessories were combined and mixed to create a unitary image of this beautiful universe.
